In celebration of Environment Month, several agencies within the Ministry of Environment and National Beautification, Green and Blue Economy, as well as Academia and non-governmental organizations, came together to present research being undertaken that is contributing to Barbados' national development.

The symposium consisted of twenty-two presentations and three panel discussions, followed by highly engaging question and answer sessions. Presentations highlighted research being conducted by government agencies such as the Environmental Protection Department, Coastal Zone Management Unit, Barbados Fisheries Division, Sanitation Service Authority. The Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies from the University of the West Indies, Cavehill Campus and the Wild Isle Trust also presented.

Of course, the Arts had its part to play during the symposium, as attendees were treated to the riveting spoken words of Voices From The Shore Theatre Collective and poet Kya Knight, and to the melody of the Marine Spatial Plan song by Mikey Mercer and Nikita. The newly published Beyond the Beach: Conversations on the Blue Economy was also featured.
