From the 21st-23rd of February, the Barbados Fisheries Division (BFD) will take on Agrofest '25: Saving the Future Through Agriculture. Hosted by the Barbados Agricultural Society, which is committed to enhancing the island’s food security, demonstrating the symbiotic relationship between agriculture and other aspects of the national economy, and educating Barbadians on the importance of harvesting their own food for the benefit of their health, society, and economy.

Agrofest is an annual exhibition which showcases farmers, craft persons, and processors of agricultural products. From its inception in 2005, it has been hosted in Queen's Park.

In keeping with the theme of the festival, the BFD intends to showcase how this can be done through the lens of the fishing industry, in an exhibition entitled: Fishing into the Future.

The immersive and interactive exhibition will take visitors through each stage of the seafood supply chain, from harvesting to processing, giving them the opportunity to discover how new technologies are being implemented to push the fishing industry into the future, the various avenues for entrepreneurship in the industry, and how this sector in the Blue Economy influences their everyday lives.

Also featured will be key partners in the fishing industry such as Adam's Aquafarm, Shorelinez, the Barbados Game Fishing Association, and the Marine Spatial Plan Unit.

We look forward to welcoming you to our exhibition in Section G this weekend!
