Overall, this month 109,343 lbs of fish were landed. The top 5 landing sites were: Bridgetown Fisheries Complex (BFC) which contributed to the highest number of fish landed 61,063 lbs, followed by Consett Bay landing 15,057 lbs, Oistins landing 12,225 lbs, Pile Bay landing 9,795 lbs and then Sand Pit landing 3,129 lbs. Compared to July 2024, total reported landings increased by 96,693 lbs.

When compared to July 2024, total landings increased by 96,474 lbs on account of the impact felt by the fishing industry after the passage of Hurricane Beryl. For similar reasons, the order of the top five landing sites was significantly different. As the BFC reported low landings in Beryl’s aftermath, Consett Bay, Pile Bay, and Half Moon Fort held the top three spots, while BFC and Six Men’s followed. Additionally, the top 5 species in July 2024 were led by barracuda, A.O.V (Any Other Variety), potfish, Wahoo, and dolphinfish, marking a large difference in the species composition as many of the larger vessels were out of commission at the time. The shift in species and landing sites shows the dynamic trends in the fishing industry from year to year.
