Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) is providing Boat Haul Out services and Limited Harbour Access to commercial fishing vessels registered with the Barbados Fisheries Division, during severe weather events and other emergencies.

Details of the services are outlined below:

1. BOAT HAUL OUT SERVICES

Location of Facility:

Shallow Draught

(N.B Vessel storage is not available at the Shallow Draught. Vessels will be placed on owner-supplied trailer for relocation.)

Operating Hours:

Normal operating time: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Severe weather event operating hours: on demand

Boat Haul-Out Restrictions:

□ No more than 25 tonnes

□ Cannot exceed 60 ft in length

□ Width of less than 18ft

Requirements of vessel owner:

□ Owner-supplied trailer in good working condition to move vessel to the storage location must be in place for lifting.

□ Vessel owner/operator must be present for the boat lift.

□ Requests for services must be submitted a minimum of 48 hours before the expected weather impact or as per directives of the Department of Emergency Management.

□ Requests for non-weather emergencies will be scheduled based on availability and all relevant service fees will apply.

□ The service will cease eight (8) hours before the expected weather impact or as per directives of the Department of Emergency Management

N.B It takes approximately 45-60 minutes to haul-out and place a vessel on a trailer.

Conditions of Use

□ Waiver to be signed, indemnifying Barbados Port Inc. against any damage to the vessel or other property. Insurance is not a requirement.

Failure to sign this waiver will result in the denial of access to the service.

2. HARBOUR ACCESS & USE

Location of Harbour Facilities:

Shallow Draught & Careenage

Capacity:

□ Vacant berths only.

□ After all remaining berth capacity is utilised, vessels requiring harbour access and/or use will have to be rafted up where possible.

Requirements of vessel owner:

□ Appropriate mooring lines, fendering and other equipment for rafting up.

□ Requests for harbour access and/or use must be submitted a minimum of 48 hours before the expected weather impact or as per directives of the Department of Emergency Management

□ The service will cease eight (8) hours before the expected weather impact or as per directives of the Department of Emergency Management.

Conditions of Use

□ Waiver to be signed, indemnifying Barbados Port Inc. against any damage to the vessel or other property.

Failure to sign this waiver will result in the denial of access to the harbour.
