Turning the Tables on Fish Waste

Did you know fish waste can be transformed into a valuable resource?

FAO Assistant Director-General of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Dr. Manuel Barange, recently visited Shorelinez a leading seafood supplier in Barbados. Joined by the FAO team, and Dr. Shelly-Ann Cox, Barbados' new Chief Fisheries Officer, he was impressed by their innovative approach to fish waste management.

What's the catch? 🐟

Shorelinez uses a special process to transform leftover fish parts into fish silage, a valuable fertilizer animal feed. The company recently acquired a bioprocessor to make the process even more efficient/ This not only reduces waste but also promotes a more sustainable food system, aligning with #SDG12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
