During the week of 29th July - 2nd August, the Barbados Fisheries Division hosted Juan Marti from Remora Technology for an official DigiFish Mission. Juan led several sessions throughout the week to demonstrate the vessel monitoring platform to fisheries stakeholders and regulatory agencies. Scoping visits were also conducted to identify the areas for the installation of the Smart Scales.
These activities were supported under DigiFish Phase 2 which is funded by Compete Caribbean and Export Barbados and implemented by Remora Technology, Mr Fish Inc and Blue Shell Productions. On 30th August, a training session on the use of vessel monitoring systems and the data dashboard was hosted in the training room at the Barbados Fisheries Division. Longline boat owners, captains, crew members and fisheries officers were in attendance.
The DigiFish Mission was a success, Juan and his team will return in early October to install the Smart Scales at the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex. Stay tuned..
