Frank Jordan (Exceptional Large Fish Processor)

Frank Jordan was born on 5th May, 1959. After graduating from the Lodge School, Frank trained as an accountant, eventually becoming a Chartered Accountant. He subsequently earned certifications as a Canadian Certified General Accountant (CGA) and Certified Professional Accountant (CPA).

In 2001, Frank started to work with Ocean Fisheries Ltd., which included plants in Grenada and Tobago as the Group Financial Controller. He quickly reorganized all accounting departments in the Group to create efficient and secure accounting systems. His hard work and dedication led to him becoming the Managing Director of Ocean Fisheries Ltd. in 2011.

Frank has been a mentor to many people during his career, always offering patient guidance, support and inspiration. He has been described as a person of great integrity with strong ethical standards and a keen sense of responsibility not only to the staff of Ocean Fisheries Ltd., but to the Fishing Industry as a whole.

He skillfully navigated the COVID-19 pandemic, making sure that there were no layoffs at the company. He also has a sense of responsibility to the industry, playing an integral role in the development of legislation particularly pertaining to the post-harvest sector.

Other invaluable contributions by Frank include the provision of financial support to the Oistin’s Fish Festival, financial advice and aid for several fisherfolk over the years, the provision of diesel for fishermen to enable them to make a living; the institution of a scholarship for the children of fisherfolk, and the successful creation of links between regional and international fisheries with local stakeholders to keep members of the sector abreast of new technologies, which can add value to the industry.

Over the years he has been able to blend the sector with cultural activities such as Crop Over.

Frank has a number of hobbies which also keep him busy, such as being Vice-President of the Barbados Squash Club and being the former President of the Barbados Chess Federation.
